A Palestinian Fair Trade Supper

untitled- 26May17-0004

Join us this March for a very special event, with very special guests, celebrating Fair Trade Fortnight and the special flavours of Palestine.

Exec chef and co-owner Tom Hunt recently traveled to Palestine with Fair Trade, the British Consulate and UK company Zaytoun. While there he traveled to different Palestinian farms and food producers as well as getting his hands dirty, cooking food with local chef Fadi Kattan in Bethlehem for local diplomats, and producers.

On his visit Tom met Maftoul and Fairtrade olive oil producer Bassema Barahmeh who showed Tom how she makes the Great Taste Award winning Maftoul that Zaytoun sells in the UK. Maftoul is a type of hand rolled couscous made with indigenous varieties of whole wheat flour.

Bessema is visiting the UK from Palestine for Fair Trade fortnight! This March Poco is collaborating with Bessama, The Fair Trade Foundation and Zaytoun to create a one off feast on the 7th March. To return Bessama’s incredibly hospitallity she will be dining with us whilst Tom and our head chef James Bruno cook up a meze of starters, sharing platters of Bessama’s maftoul chicken and vegetables and one of our classic desserts.

Arrive at 7pm for canapes and a prompt start to the meal at 7.30pm

Fair Trade, Bessama and Tom Hunt will be giving a short introduction to the meal and will be available for questions throughout the evening.

Early Bird tickets are £25 LIMITED AVAILABILITY

General Tickets are £30

Each ticket sold will see an olive tree planted in palestine. Working with Palestinian charity partner Trees4Life, we’ll be supporting their work with palestinian farmers, helping to build a bright future for them and supporting Fair Trade for the Palestinians.
